Ben Avicolli

As President Ben is responsible for Stratagem’s mission, vision, values, and overall company execution.

Ben joined Stratagem in 2016 and was given the difficult task of defining Stratagem’s new business model. Ben transformed Stratagem from a purely staff-augmenting subcontractor to a self-performing capabilities company in a matter of only two years. During Ben's tenure with the company, Stratagem’s revenue has grown by more than 10x. Ben was the first Pennsylvania employee and he founded Stratagem’s Valley Forge Office. Ben believes that a successful business model is built by pursuing quality work over high volume and choosing customers and partners who fit Stratagem’s culture. Ben says, “Business relationships are similar to dating relationships; choose partners you enjoy spending time with.”

Ben has over 20 years of experience as a software developer, chief engineer, program manager, and business portfolio lead. Ben was the Chief Engineer of a $30M National Communications program, where he led 30+ software transitions into operations without any service loss. He led the overall strategy and capture management of a $250M business portfolio that more than doubled its target growth commitments every year during his tenure. In 2010, Ben founded a company that provided proposal services to small businesses pursuing city and state RFPs and generated over $5M in revenue for his clients. Ben holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Penn State.

In Ben’s free time, he is an avid traveler and has visited all 50 US states. He has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and most recently polar plunged in Antarctica. He volunteers teaching STEM classes in the Philadelphia school system, enjoys running sprint-triathlons, volunteers on his Homeowners Association board, and of course enjoys time supporting all Philly sports teams.
